I love whip cream. I love my vagina. Unfortunately these two great loves of mine do not play well together and so they must remain on opposite ends of the playground. What’s the big deal? Glad you asked. Two sticky situations arise when whip cream and the vagina partner up for a game of show and tell. Latex breaks down and the pH of the vagina gets unbalanced. Think unsafe sex and increased risk of infections. Latex is a marvelous invention. Its condoms help protect against sexually transmitted diseases and helps prevent pregnancy (hooray!). It’s flexible, durable, thin and comes in a variety of sizes, colors, textures and quantities. It’s cute, small and can discreetly fit into that little side pocket of your purse for that night out when, maybe yes, maybe no, but either way you definitely want the option to be all yours. Unfortunately, when latex meets an oil based substance, it begins to fall apart. Even if your little latex friend does not suffer a complete and utter melt-down, all that is needed for a complete and utter disaster is one tiny little microscopic imperfection which lets the STD or sperm slip right on through. So play it safe and do not, I repeat – do not! – lubricate your latex condoms with anything oil based including whip cream, butter, petroleum jelly, lotion, vegetable oils, massage oils or suntan oil. Stick with water based wonders like KY or Astroglide. Whip cream’s other little misadventure involves the pH balance of the vagina. Something neutral such as water would rate about a 7 on the ph scale. The vagina is sitting pretty at about 4.5. A lower number means a higher acidity. That extra acidity means that it can help defend its territory against infection. Weaken its defenses and you increase the likelihood of a yeast infection or other infections. I don’t wish to discourage adventurous sexual play, but I do want make sure that your play is handled in such a way as to not prevent you from a second round. Enjoy your whipped treats, just make sure you use a different bowl. |
